Open Source

Ktomic WWWiki

In late 2004, we embarked on developing an easy to use WYSIWYG Wiki module for the DotNetNuke Community. The tool we developed was called WWWiki. We sold over 600 copies of the software internationally, with organizations like NASA, Xerox, and the New York Times making purchases of the software.

After two years of selling the software, we felt it was time to give back to the DotNetNuke community. So, on September 30th, 2006, we released the software as open source. In the span of several short months after its release as open source there had been almost 1000 downloads of the module. Shortly after that Ktomics donated the WWWiki's source code to the DotNetNuke project. To this day it continues on as the official DotNetNuke Wiki Module.

We continue to participate on the DotNetNuke Wiki team working on new features for the community.

Ktomic Chat-It-Up Lite

Before our successful Wiki module for DotNetNuke we developed a chat module. The module was a best seller inside the DotNetNuke community on the first week of its release and continued to be a best in class offering for many years; selling many hundreds of licenses over its lifetime. As we did with WWWiki, after receiving so much success from the community we felt we had to give back, and so we released the module as open source.

As an open source module there have been over 4200 downloads in under a year and it continues to be a competitive offering for those needing Web Chat on their DotNetNuke portals.

Features:

  • Any number of chatrooms per portal or sub-portal! If you want to add a new room, just add a new module to a page, because each module is its own room!
  • Emoticons are active to give you all the smiley faces and other icons you are accustomed to seeing in popular IM clients.
  • Chat rooms are open so any number of users can enter the same chat room.
  • Chat rooms content is cached for up to an hour, allowing for users to come and go from the chat rooms as they please.
  • Chat rooms pop up in a separate window allowing users to be in multiple chat rooms at the same time. Alternately, they can run inline in a given page.
  • While we prefer C#, this module is written 100% in VB.NET to match the flavor of DotNetNuke.

Requirements:

  • DotNetNuke 3.x or 4.x portal
  • Host privileges on the portal to install the module
